RDEK launches election guidebook for those looking to run

The Regional District of East Kootenay has put out an election guidebook for those thinking about running in the fall municipal election.

The guidebook helps candidates better understand the local government election process, including nominations and key requirements.

“Local government plays an important role in shaping the future of our communities, and we want to make sure residents have access to clear, helpful information whether they are considering running for office or preparing to cast their ballot,” says Corporate Officer Tina Hlushak.

“The Candidate Guidebook and election website are intended to give people the tools they need to better understand the process and participate with confidence.”

The RDEK will also include other information on that page for both candidates and voters.

That includes important dates, voting details, elector eligibility information and other updates.

The candidate guidebook can be found here.

The election is scheduled for Oct. 17, 2026.
