Fernie getting closer to draft OCP

Work on Fernie’s new official community plan is underway, with the draft stage coming up.

So far, there are four main draft ideas for the OCP.

That includes looking at what a phased growth approach would look like, comprehensive planning areas, natural and protected areas, as well as downtown evolution.

The draft OCP will be finalized before coming back to council.

However, it’s still a ways off from final approval.

Once the draft is written, it will be reviewed by administration, council and the OCP task force.

It will then be revised if needed before going out for public consultation.

After that, the draft OCP will be refined before coming back to council for proper readings and adoption.
