Curbside collection woes prompt reminder in Fernie

The City of Fernie is working with SRP Projects to review curbside collection following complaints about missed pick ups.

City staff said in a number of cases carts were placed after collection crews had already passed by.

Carts should be placed at the curb between 5-7 a.m. on collection day.

Even if you cart is typically picked up later in the day, routes may shift due to weather, equipment availability, or operational needs.

SRP will also be making some adjustments.

A second truck will be out on Fridays and a second person is assisting with opening the locking mechanism for organics pick up.
