Sparwood approves rate change for new bulk water station

Sparwood council has adopted the solid waste management amendment bylaw to set rates for the new bulk water station.

Construction on the station is underway and is expected to be commissioned in early 2027.

It provides a metered, self-service method for businesses and members of the public to obtain bulk water.

Currently customers are charged a fixed daily fee of $199.91 for up to 13,638 litres.

As a result, a customer requiring only a small volume of water pays the same fixed daily fee as a customer requiring up to 13,638 litres.

The new fare system will make it so customers pay for the actual volume dispensed rather than a fixed minimum quantity.
