Cranbrook council has approved the consolidation of budget allocations to fund the purchase of new server and storage infrastructure.
City staff said the city relies on licensed software and a hyperconverged server infrastructure to support its applications and business operations.
The current environment can withstand the failure of a single server, but the city said they lack a comprehensive disaster recovery solution.
All of the city’s current infrastructure is in one geographical location, which creates a single point of failure in the event of fire, flooding, or other localized disasters.
Council approved consolidating the approved budget allocations for Project ITE0033 from 2026, 2029, and 2030 to enable the immediate purchase of new equipment.
It has a total project budget of $320,000.
