City of Kimberley adopts new five year financial plan

Kimberley city council adopted the 2026-2030 five-year financial plan.

The 2026 budget includes a 3.23 per cent property tax increase, equal to about $177 more per year for the average Kimberley home assessed at $598,426.

The increase will go toward daily operating expenses, debt repayment and savings for future projects.

Property tax notices will be sent out soon, with a payment deadline of July 2, 2026.

Council also approved 2026 tax rates for municipal, hospital and regional district services.

Council approved changes to flat tax rates, including a lower tax for improved residential properties and a higher tax for vacant residential properties.

The flat tax rate for improved residential properties will decrease by $80, from $306 to $226. The flat tax rate for vacant residential properties will increase by $114, from $386 to $500.

More public engagement is planned for next year’s budget and the 2027-2031 five-year financial plan.
