As part of annual budget discussions, Cranbrook city council has given their pre-approval to a number of financial requests for 2026 and 2027.
Some of the funds requested were for gear replacements, while $11,000 and $18,500 would go towards auxiliary turnout gear.
The fire department will also be replacing one of its light-duty trucks with a price tag of $85,000.
Funds for these replacements would come out of reserves.
The department also has some projects planned for next year.
That includes some wildfire interface mitigation for $200,000, but that is being funded through a grant.
A FireSmart landscaping demonstration is also planned, with $50,000 coming from reserves once the five-year financial plan.
