Cranbrook firefighters snuff out early morning restaurant fire

Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services swiftly put out a fire in a restaurant early Wednesday morning.

Four on-duty members of Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services responded to reports of smoke coming from a building downtown just before 4 a.m. on Oct. 7.

The on-duty fire crew arrived with two apparatus and quickly extinguished a fire in the kitchen area of a restaurant located on the 1000 block of Baker Street.

Six additional Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services members responded from home to help put out the fire.

No injuries were reported, and an investigation determined the fire was not suspicious.

The city extends thanks to the Cranbrook RCMP, EHS, BC Hydro, Fortis BC and City Public Works for their assistance in the response.
