A section of Victoria Avenue in Cranbrook will be closed overnight Tuesday as crews complete utility connections for a new seniors housing development.
The road will be closed between 8th Street North and Kootenay Street from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 6 a.m. Wednesday, according to the City of Cranbrook.
Contractors will complete water, sewer and storm sewer connection tie-ins for the new Colbrook Properties development at 2000 8th Street North.
The development is planned as a five-storey, 49-unit housing project for independent seniors.
Drivers are being asked to use alternate routes, allow extra travel time and follow posted signs and directions from traffic control personnel.
The city is also reminding motorists travelling near the construction zone to slow down and watch for roadside workers.
A second overnight closure of the same section of Victoria Avenue is tentatively planned in the coming days to allow the area to be repaved.
The city said the date of the second closure will be announced in advance.
