Free transit offered in Cranbrook for municipal election day

Cranbrook residents will be able to ride BC Transit for free on Saturday, Oct. 17, as voters head to the polls for the 2026 municipal elections.

BC Transit has announced fare-free service in participating communities across British Columbia, including Cranbrook, the West Kootenay and Revelstoke.

The initiative is intended to make transportation more accessible for residents heading to polling stations, removing the cost of bus fares as a potential barrier to voting.

The service will also include handyDART in applicable regions, providing additional transportation options for residents with mobility challenges.

Residents are encouraged to check local routes and schedules before travelling on election day.
