East Kootenay businesses targeted by new commercialization initiative

Businesses and innovators across the East Kootenay are being invited to take part in a new initiative aimed at connecting locally developed products and technologies with larger markets.

Cranbrook Economic Development is partnering with ConvergX Xpand on the initiative, which is intended to connect businesses, entrepreneurs, researchers and other innovators with industry leaders, investors and government partners.

According to Cranbrook Economic Development, the program will focus on market-ready technologies and business solutions, helping participants pursue strategic partnerships, procurement opportunities, investment and collaboration across sectors.

While the initiative is based in Cranbrook, participation is not limited to businesses in the city.

Cranbrook Economic Development is encouraging companies, startups, entrepreneurs, industry organizations, post-secondary institutions and economic development partners from throughout the East Kootenay to explore the program.

The organization said smaller communities can face challenges gaining access to the networks, decision-makers and capital needed to commercialize new products and technologies.

The initiative is intended to help address those barriers by connecting East Kootenay participants with commercialization networks elsewhere in B.C., Canada and international markets.

Businesses and organizations with market-ready technologies, innovative business solutions or other commercialization opportunities can find more information and apply at https://www.choosecranbrook.ca/convergx-2026/.
