Sparwood residents no longer need to get annual renewals for outdoor fire pits.
The fire services bylaw was originally adopted in 2008 to establish the framework for fire services in Sparwood.
The new bylaw was brought forward to update legislative references to reflect current provincial law and improve administrative efficiency.
The most noticeable change for residents is the removal of annual permits for backyard fire pits.
Under the new bylaw, permits are only need renewing if the property changes ownership or the installation no longer complies with the bylaw.
A region wide campfire ban is currently in place.
