Sparwood seeks grant to revive street art banner program

The District of Sparwood is applying for a Columbia Basin Trust grant to revive its street art banner program.

The district launched the program in 2020 after receiving $20,000 from the trust.

The program showcased local artists by reproducing their work on banners displayed on poles throughout the community.

It ran in 2020 and 2021, with 11 banners produced before the grant funding ran out.

The district is now seeking up to $75,000 to restart the program.

There are 39 poles in Sparwood that could potentially display banners.
