Sparwood mayoral candidate Hadden Kelloway promises to reconnect community

Sparwood mayoral candidate Hadden Kelloway is campaigning on a promise to rebuild connections between local government and the community, with a focus on seniors, youth and community organizations.

Kelloway, who moved to Sparwood from Newfoundland 32 years ago, said the community has become his permanent home.

He said his decision to seek the mayor’s seat followed growing concerns about the relationship between residents, council and municipal administration.

“Over the past 7 years or so, I’ve seen a change in Sparwood council and its administration, and our community has been disconnected, and I want to get that connection back.”

Kelloway said his campaign priorities include greater attention to seniors and young people, along with stronger relationships between the municipality, the chamber of commerce, community groups and non-profit organizations.

He also expressed concern about divisions within the community and said he wants to encourage greater collaboration.

“We need that closeness back in Sparwood.”

Kelloway urged residents seeking a different direction for the municipality to make their voices heard at the ballot box.

“if you want change, you need to vote for Hadden Kelloway. That’s it. That’s the only way change is going to come to Sparwood.”

The municipal election is scheduled for Oct. 17.
