Kimberley road closure coming to 5th Avenue and Moyie Street instersection

The City of Kimberley is closing the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Moyie Street in the Townsite neighbourhood.

City staff said the decision followed years of concerns and complaints from residents about vehicle speeds and safety in the area.

The city worked with a transportation safety adviser to review traffic patterns and identify the safest solution.

The review determined that closing the roadway was the best option.

Drivers will be redirected via Cranbrook Street to Fourth Avenue, Sixth Avenue or Eighth Avenue.

As part of the improvements, the main entrance to Triangle Park will be relocated from Cranbrook Street.

Barrier installations are expected in the coming weeks.
