Cranbrook Firefighters annual Fishing Clinic coming up on Sunday

The Cranbrook Firefighters Association is hosting its 47th annual Fishing Clinic on Sunday, June 21, at Idlewild Park in Cranbrook.

The free event runs from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and is open to children aged 15 and under.

No pre-registration is required. Participants need only fishing gear and can enjoy fishing, along with free burgers, hot dogs and refreshments.

There will be plenty of prizes, including a chartered fishing trip for the participant with the biggest catch.

The family event has been running for more than 40 years and is designed to encourage outdoor recreation, family unity and youth participation in fishing.

The association said the clinic regularly attracts more than 300 participants and helps introduce young people to fishing and an appreciation of the outdoors.

The association said it is a great opportunity for parents and grandparents to pass on knowledge and instill a passion for fishing in children.

All provincial fishing regulations apply and all fish entered in the event must be caught in the lake.
