Complaint investigation completed for Kimberley member of council

An investigation into the behaviour of a member of Kimberley council found no unethical conduct occurred.

Two formal complaints filed by Kimberley’s Councillor Fox underwent external investigations. One complaint was against a city staff member and the other was against a member of council.

The findings of the investigation into the complaint involving the member of council were received by the city last month.

The investigation found the behaviour exhibited by the member of council did not violate the council code of conduct, the city’s workplace bullying and harassment policy, the council procedure bylaw, the Community Charter or WorkSafeBC bullying and harassment guidelines.

Investigators determined the council member’s actions did not amount to unethical conduct. The conduct was not found to be unethical under general standards or based on the expectations and requirements of a council member’s role.

City officials said the next step will be rebuilding workplace relationships and improving governance practices

The city said it would not provide additional comment because the investigation is confidential.

The findings of the investigation into the complaint involving the staff member were received by the city in March. That investigation also concluded no unethical conduct occurred.
