Dynamiters sweep into KIJHL final with overtime win

The Kimberley Dynamiters are headed to the KIJHL championship after a 5-4 overtime win over the Beaver Valley Nitehawks to complete a four-game sweep.

Toren Fron scored the series-clinching goal 3:59 into overtime, his third of the playoffs, and added an assist in the victory.

“Fronner made up for that penalty late in the third period by going to the net hard,” said Dynamiters head coach and general manager Derek Stuart.

Johnny Lozeman had two assists, including on the winner, while Adam Kisilevich made 24 saves on 28 shots.

The Dynamiters last competed for the championship in the 2022-23 season.

Beaver Valley forced overtime on Ryan Neufeld’s late goal, set up by Brady Magarrell, who finished with two goals and four points. Karsten Hugenholtz made 25 saves for the Nitehawks.

“It was an incredible game,” Stuart said. “Two exhausted teams battling for the fourth time in five days. It’s exciting to be back in the finals, but we’re going to enjoy being Kootenay Conference champions for a few days first.”

The Dynamiters will now face Princeton Posse in the championship final.
