East Kootenay candidates confirmed for provincial election

The final candidate lists are set for Columbia River-Revelstoke and Kootenay-Rockies ahead of B.C.’s 2026 provincial election.

Candidate nominations closed Saturday, Oct. 3, with Elections BC confirming three candidates in Columbia River-Revelstoke and five in Kootenay-Rockies.

In Columbia River-Revelstoke, Andrea Dunlop is running for the B.C. NDP, Scott McInnis for the Conservative Party and Rana Nelson for the B.C. Green Party.

Five candidates are seeking election in Kootenay-Rockies: Norma Blissett for the B.C. NDP, Pete Davis for the Conservative Party, Keenan Dennehy for the B.C. Green Party, Paul Heywood for CentreBC and AJ Wolfe for OneBC.

Advance voting will run from Friday, Oct. 16 through Wednesday, Oct. 21, with advance voting locations open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. local time. Voters do not need a reason to cast their ballot during advance voting and can vote at any advance voting location.

Final Voting Day is Saturday, Oct. 24. Voting places will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pacific time, with voters assigned a specific voting location.

Elections BC says registered voters will receive a Where to Vote card listing their assigned Final Voting Day location and advance voting options. Voting locations are also being posted through Elections BC as they are confirmed.

To be eligible to vote, a person must be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 years old on Oct. 24 and have been a B.C. resident since April 23, 2026.
