Windermere resident arrested after a vehicle stop in Saskatchewan

A vehicle stop in Saskatchewan at the end of July led to an arrest and charges against a Windermere resident.

Indian Head RCMP stopped an SUV for a driver’s licence, registration and sobriety check just before 1 a.m. on Highway 1 near Indian Head on July 29.

Police said the stop led officers to believe there were illicit drugs in the vehicle and they conducted a search.

Police said they arrested the driver and seized 10.25 kilograms of cocaine and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The 33-year-old driver from Windermere has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime valued at $5,000 or less and one count of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.

The driver appeared in court in Fort Qu’Appelle the following day.

Police said the Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Team, the Organized Crime Agency of British Columbia and the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol worked together on the investigation.
