Friends donate tote bags for Cranbrook Public Library homebound service

The Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library have donated new tote bags for users of the Cranbrook Public Library(CPL)bhomebound service.

Patrons who use the Cranbrook Public Library’s homebound service now have new tote bags, courtesy of the Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library.

The library said its homebound service helps ensure people in the community who are unable to visit the library because of physical limitations can still access library materials.

The program is available to people who are physically unable to visit the library, providing access to books and other materials.

“It’s a great way for the elderly, disabled or temporarily injured people to be able to continue to get items from the library like books, audiobooks, magazines or movies and shows on DVDs,” said Homebound Coordinator Deborah Downie.

“It’s a big job to tote the items in and out of homes so this donation from the Friends of the Cranbrook Public Library ensures that everything runs smoothly!”

A volunteer selects items once a month based on each patron’s preferences and delivers them to their home. A staff member returns about a month later to collect the borrowed materials and bring them back to the library.

The service is available on both a short-term and long-term basis, depending on an individual’s circumstances.
