Red dress campaign and a march to Rotary Park

May 4 @ 11:00 am - 3:00 pm MDT

On May 4, 2024, we will honor Missing and Murdered Indigenous People with the red dress campaign and a march to Rotary Park. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness of Missing Murder Indigenous Women and to remember the loved ones we have lost.

Many community partners are teaming up to bring awareness to the Indigenous People who have gone missing or have been murdered. The day will provide information on the systemic causes of violence and to improve safety of Indigenous women and girls in Canada. In the park we will have resources available about what supports are in our area.

The event will start at 11:15 at Streets where everyone will walk down to Rotary Park together. At the entrance of the park, there will be a table full of candles that individuals can take and light for a loved one they may have lost and place the candle under the arbor. The speakers will open with prayer, then the drummers will play songs, the mic will be opened to anyone who wishes to speak. There will be information booths set up in the park about abuse, safe sex, substance use, self-defense, and other supports. A free BBQ will be provided in Rotary Park for all who attend and support the day.
