Two winners declared in ʔakisq̓nuk council election

Two people have come out on top to fill positions on the ʔakisq̓nuk Nation Council.

Faro Burgoyne and Janice Alpine will be welcomed to the roles following the election result announcement on Tuesday.

Burgoyne received the largest share of the ballot with 116 votes, followed by Alpine with 76 votes.

Meanwhile, Anna Louise Hudson received 59 votes and Lillian Ann Rose got 26 votes.

Election officials said a total of 152 ballots were cast, with residents choosing two of four candidates.

ʔakisq̓nuk officials said Alpine and Burgoyne will assume office on May 30.
