EKFH Launches White Heart Project for Frontline Workers

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health has started the White Heart Project as an opportunity for the community to support and share their gratitude with frontline workers in the East Kootenay Interior Health Region.

“During COVID-19, the East Kootenay Foundation for Health is thinking of all of our friends who are working in healthcare,” said Brenna Baker, Executive Director of EKFH. “Whether you are a physician, a nurse, in maintenance, logistics, housekeeping, administration, support services, security, laboratory services, pharmacy, or medical imaging we want to thank you for showing up every day and for helping to keep us all safe.”

Baker said their team at EKFH was trying to find ways to process what exactly was happening around the world and within local communities as a result of COVID-19.

After repeated requests of people asking how they can help, EKFH initiated the White Heart Project.

“This will be a way for all of us to show our appreciation and gratitude for health care workers from our home.”

In order to share a message, you simply have to visit the EKFH website, with the Foundation then passing on the message to the frontline.

“We will make sure that your message is heard,” said Baker. “Let’s paint our communities and health care facilities with white hearts and show how much we appreciate our health care workers.”
