Cranbrook city council has approved a zoning amendment that allows a BC Housing low income project to move forward.
BC Housing is planning on building a multi family development between 2nd Street North and 4th Street North on the empty lot adjacent to the Step Beyond Shelter.
It is currently a gravel lot being used for parking at the shelter.
Council approved a density increase from 46 allowable units to 50.
This project will help increase Cranbrook’s affordable housing supply.
