The City of Cranbrook will be reviewing changes to Victoria Avenue with a second engineering firm after backlash to the proposed changes.
The city had announced potential turning lane safety improvements for Victoria Avenue back in April.
It included reinforcing existing painted left hand turn restrictions by installing concrete dividers.
Turning left into and out of accesses that service A&W, Domino’s, the car wash, the Co-op, and others off of Victoria Avenue are already illegal, but commonly used by motorists.
City staff said they have heard concerns from some business owners.
The city will be deferring the concrete barriers at that area and will conduct a focused review with a second engineering firm that will explore all options for business access at this location.
New concrete medians are still planned to be installed at 12th Street North, 8th Street North, and 4th Street North intersections.
