Community ties drive 2026 Bike Swap in Cranbrook

A long-running community event aimed at making cycling more accessible is returning to Cranbrook, with local organizations working together to keep it rooted in the community.

JCI Kootenay and the Wildhorse Cycling Club have partnered to host the 2026 Bike Swap on Saturday, May 2, at Northstar Bicycle Co., creating a space for residents to buy and sell used bicycles while connecting with other riders.

Dropoff runs from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday and 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday. Sales begin at 12 p.m. Saturday.

Organizers say the partnership reflects a broader effort to keep the event community-led, with increased involvement from local cyclists and volunteers.

“This event has always been about access, connection, and community,” said a representative from JCI Kootenay. “Working alongside Wildhorse allows us to keep that focus strong while supporting a sustainable future for the event.”

The bike swap brings together new and experienced riders, offering affordable equipment and encouraging more people to take part in cycling, whether for transportation or recreation.

Organizers said the goal is to ensure the event continues to grow under the guidance of those most involved in Cranbrook’s cycling community.
