City donates land to Rotary Club for seniors project

Cranbrook council approved the donation of a portion of city owned land for an upcoming seniors housing project.

The land at 5th Street South is being given for $1 and will have a 99 year lease.

The Rotary Club is looking to build 12-14 affordable seniors housing units on the site.

The city approved changes last month to the OCP and zoning to allow the project.

The city had to rezone a section that was park space but also designated land along the creek as park space.

City staff said a flood plain exemption will have to be approved by council before the project can begin.
