No injuries reported in drunk driving collision near Cranbrook

Cranbrook RCMP is looking into a drunk driving incident that resulted in a collision, but no injuries.

Police officials said an erratic driver along Highway 3 east of Cranbrook was reported at about 1 p.m. on Wednesday.

As soon as officers spotted the westbound vehicle, it collided with the vehicle in front as it was turning off the highway.

Officers determined both drivers were not injured and ruled out impaired driving for the subject of the initial complaint.

However, the Cranbrook RCMP learned that the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident was impaired.

“This is not your traditional impaired driving scenario but, it is important to remind the motoring public that drinking and driving will catch up on you eventually,” said Cranbrook RCMP Staff Sergent Barry Graham.

The driver was released with a later court date.
