Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the Elk Valley this afternoon, July 30.
Meteorologists are tracking a severe thunderstorm capable of producing very strong wind gusts, nickel to ping pong ball size hail and heavy rain.
The thunderstorm is 21 km southeast of Fernie, and is moving northeastward at 5 km/h.
“Take immediate cover if a thunderstorm approaches. If outside, protect yourself from flying debris and hail.” Said Environment Canada.
Severe thunderstorm warnings are issued when imminent or occurring thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging hail, wind or rain.
