Firefighters respond to small blaze southeast of Cranbrook

Firefighters are taking down a small wildfire that broke out near Lower Peavine Road, southeast of Cranbrook.

The fire was first reported on Tuesday, Oct. 1 and the BC Wildfire Service is responding with eight firefighters.

Shortly before the small fire was spotted, the area was the subject of a prescribed burn meant to cut down on wildfire risks.

The 0.1-hectare wildfire is currently out of control and crews will remain on the scene until it is fully extinguished.
