Early morning dumpster fire damages Hospital Auxiliary

An early morning dumpster fire in Cranbrook led to some damage on the outside of the Hospital Auxiliary building on Wednesday.

City officials said four firefighters jumped into action with two vehicles shortly after 7:15 a.m.

“Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a fire in a dumpster at the back of the building, which had started to scorch the building’s siding,” said city officials.

Firefighters quickly snuffed out the blaze and no injuries or additional property damage were found.

“Cranbrook Fire & Emergency Services reminds all business owners that have garbage dumpsters or yellow recycling bins on their properties to ensure these are placed at least 16 feet away from any building or structure,” said city staff.
