Cranbrook RCMP holding information session for re-launched volunteer program

The Cranbrook RCMP is looking for volunteers to join the recently re-launched auxiliary program.

The program allows members to support law enforcement efforts under the direct supervision and accompaniment of a uniformed police officer.

Tasks include scene security, check stops and searching people as directed by an officer.

The program was suspended nationwide in 2016 pending a review and has been brought back under a new tiered system, and relaunched on April 3.

The different tiers require different levels of training and hours per year.

A full breakdown of the tiers can be found below.

The Cranbrook detachment is holding its information session on April 10 at the Manual Training Centre starting at 6:30 p.m.

Former auxiliary members are encouraged to reapply and new volunteers are invited to learn more about the program.
