RDEK looking for 2024 electoral area volunteers of the year nominations

The Regional District of East Kootenay is searching for the best do-gooders in each of its six electoral areas.

“Volunteers are out there every day, making a difference in our communities. From flipping pancakes at a summer festival, coaching little league, or providing transport for seniors getting to medical appointments, their vast contributions are important and deserve to be recognized. Volunteers are often those who don’t ask for applause, so this is an opportunity for those around them to say, ‘We see you, we appreciate you, and we know how hard you work’,” said RDEK board chair Rob Gay.

“If you know someone who is committed to making positive change for those around them, the RDEK wants to celebrate them. Please nominate a volunteer in your area, as it’s important to honour those who are giving their time, energy, and passion for the benefit of others.”

Nominations are open and the RDEK will be honouring one outstanding volunteer or couple from each of its six electoral areas.

Nominees need to be a resident of an electoral area and make voluntary contributions to the spirit, culture, or people of the community.

Nomination forms can be found here, or hard copies can be picked up from the Cranbrook and Columbia Valley RDEK offices.

The deadline to nominate someone is 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 7.
