Cranbrook Bucks get set for home opener

The Cranbrook Bucks are entering the third weekend of the BCHL regular season and are finally playing in front of their fans.

The Bucks are set for back-to-back games against the Merritt Centennials.

Head coach and GM Ryan Donald said there are some positives to the road trips but it’s nice to get back home.

“Getting on the road early in the year is a bit of a challenge but it’s a unique opportunity to get the team a little bit closer,” he said.

“Spending time with meals and hotels and on the bus usually brings your team a little bit tighter and kind of builds your chemistry, but obviously, everyone loves playing at home and is certainly excited to have the opportunity to play in front of our fans here in Cranbrook.”

The Bucks are fifth in the Interior Division with a 2-2 record.

The Centennials are last in the division with one win and three losses.

Puck drop is at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
