Kootenay volleyball team places fourth in BC Cup Provincial tournament

The Kootenay Zone U15 girl’s volleyball team placed the highest it ever has in the BC Cup Provincial tournament in Kamloops.

The girls were ranked 1st after two days of pool play and then made history by finishing 4th overall.

Sarah Johnson from Cranbrook said the team was made up of players from around our area so they already knew each other quite well.

“We’ve been playing with these girls for school since we were young, so we already kind of knew them and the practices just help get us closer together and I think we gelled pretty well.”

Team captain Mia Molnar who is also from Cranbrook said they will now get ready for the school season.

“It’s school season next in September so everybody goes back to their different school teams and we’ll probably see each other and play against each other up coming in September and October.”

The team was made up of two Cranbrook players, eight from Fernie, one from Elkford, two from Sparwood and one from Kimberley.

The head coach was Fernie’s Andrea Reed.
