Bucks owner proud of team’s accomplishments three seasons in

The Cranbrook Bucks have improved as a team every year since they came into the league in the 2020-21 pod season.

Bucks president and owner Nathan Lieuwen said it’s been a team effort on and off the ice.

“On the office side, I think we’ve had some good ideas to bring the community together and the community has responded really well,” he added.

“I think the BCHL itself has done a good job of continuing to grow and that’s obviously helped us.”

The Bucks ended the season second in the Interior Division and third in the league standings with a 36-14-1-3 record.

This led to head coach and GM Ryan Donald winning the Coach of the Year.

“The organization is only as good as the people we have and we’ve managed to work with some really good people,” said Lieuwen.

“Obviously, Ryan Donald has done an amazing job on the ice and bringing in an awesome product.”

It also led to Lieuwen winning the Executive of the Year.

“It’s interesting,” he said.

“Obviously, anytime you’re recognized by your peers it’s a nice thing, but I see this more as an organizational award. I think our organization has done a good job to work hard and build this organization up.”
