Bucks enter Game 3 with split

The Cranbrook Bucks are getting ready for their first home game of the first round of the playoffs as they welcome the Trail Smoke Eaters to town.

The Bucks took Game 1 in a close 3-2 overtime match, but fell 5-1 in Game 2.

The Bucks leading scorer this season, Rasmus Svartström, was the lone Buck to score in that game.

Head coach Ryan Donald says it’s great to have a player with his scoring touch.

“Scoring is the hardest thing to do in the sport, so to have somebody who has been able to find the back of the net the way Rasmus has is important,” he said.

He didn’t just lead the team in goals but was also first in the BCHL with 46.

Donald says Svartström has been a great fit in the locker room.

“When that individual success comes, it’s usually the result of a good group effort,” he said.

“Rasmus has been an awesome teammate since he landed here during the summertime. He had a big smile on his face and was excited to meat all of his teammates.”

Game 3 is set for Tuesday. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
