Fernie gearing up for 48th annual Griz Days

Fernie’s 48th annual Griz Days is set for this weekend, with the three-day celebration poised to bring fun and excitement to the community.

The Fernie Chamber of Commerce says this year’s theme is Vintage Formal, so bring your classic fur, elegant jewelry, and old-school glamour.

“We are thrilled to be hosting Fernie’s number-one winter festival once again. A huge shoutout to Mountain Luxe’s event planners, Jessica Gamey and MJ Cursons, for their outstanding work in bringing new energy and excitement to Griz Days,” said Wendy McDougall, Executive Director of the Fernie Chamber of Commerce.

“This year’s entertainment lineup is packed with excitement, and kicking off the weekend with the parade on Friday night promises an unforgettable Griz Days experience. Griz Days is a magical time for locals and visitors alike – an event not to be missed!”

The Chamber of Commerce says Griz Days will feature classic favourites like the Raging Elk Dummy Downhill, parade, live entertainment and the Extreme Griz Competition.

There will also be some new additions for the 48th annual event including Griz Days sweatshirts and a new digital schedule platform.

Details about all of the events taking place through the weekend can be found on the Woov app by searching for ‘Griz.’

“Griz Days would not be possible without the generous support of our title sponsor, EVR (Elk Valley Resources),” said the Chamber.

“We also extend our gratitude to the Province of British Columbia’s Resort Municipality Initiative, the City of Fernie, Tourism Fernie, and all of our community sponsors.”

Residents can be a part of making Griz Days a success by signing up to volunteer at [email protected].

“The Fernie Chamber of Commerce extends a heartfelt thank you to all sponsors, funders, volunteers, and community groups who help keep this beloved tradition alive. We couldn’t do it without you,” said the Chamber of Commerce.
