Creston defenceman excited to be back in front of home fans

Defenceman Chase Bambrick has decided to finish off his hockey career playing with his hometown team.

Bambrick signed a contract with the Creston Valley Thunder Cats last week.

He played all of last season playing for the Wenatchee Wild of the WHL and started this season with them.

After 11 games he signed with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks of the BCHL and played 8 games there before signing in Creston.

“I just decided that it would be nice to be back at home and get on with my life and still do the sport I enjoy playing,” he said.

Bambrick says he’ll finish his hockey career here and won’t be pursuing college hockey.

“I’m looking to just play here for the remainder of my hockey and then go on and complete my electrical apprenticeship,” he added.

He has yet to play a game with the Thunder Cats but says he’s been getting into the mix in practice.

“It’s been good,” he said.

“I’ve had a few practices and getting back into things after a little while off. It’s been fun.”

He says he’ll try to bring a style of hockey similar to players he looks up to.

“Some guys like Victor Hedman and Cale Makar,” he said.

“Those are some pretty good players that I definitely look up to and try to play like.”

He thinks the Thunder Cats will have a good second half of the season and could do some damage in the playoffs.

“I think we’re going to have a strong back half of the season and take that into the playoffs and go from there.”

The Thunder Cats will face the Golden Rockets on Friday followed by a Sunday matinee against the Chase Heat.
