Rockies ring in the new year with two wins

The Columbia Valley Rockies went undefeated in their first weekend of 2025 and snagged a point in their New Year’s Eve match.

“It was a good week in general,” said head coach Tayler Sincennes.

“Five out of six points in a week you will always be happy.”

The Rockies lost 5-4 in overtime against the Creston Valley Thunder Cats but beat the Williams Lake Mustangs and Kimberley Dynamiters 7-6 and 5-2 respectively.

“I thought our New Year’s Eve game we played a little sloppy and on our heels but the Williams Lake game was a mirror image of that. Obviously, with a 7-6 finish we played really well offensively but descended poorly and gave up too many grade-A chances,” he added.

“Kimberley on Saturday night was kind of the opposite. We had timely scoring, I though we defended really well and our PK was excellent.”

The Rockies sit in second place in the Eddie Mountain Division with a 20-12-1 record.
