Highway 3 collision claims one life

A man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 3 east of Cranbrook over the weekend.

The crash occurred near Coopman Road before the Rampart rest area on Oct. 13 at approximately 4:50 p.m. and shut down the highway.

Police say the driver of a silver sedan crossed the centre line and struck a red GMC pickup truck.

The male driver of the sedan died at the scene, while the occupants of the pickup were taken to the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

“This is yet another tragic addition to our highway fatalities,” said S/Sgt Barry Graham.

“Our condolences go out to the friends and family of the deceased.”

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash.

Anyone with dashcam footage leading up to and including the collision is asked to contact the Cranbrook RCMP non-emergency line at 250-489-3471.
