Two people stopped for excessive speeding near Kimberley

Kimberley RCMP have caught two drivers excessively speeding south of Marysville over the past few days.

RCMP officials said both vehicles were stopped other along Highway 95a in a 100 km/h zone.

On Friday, an 18-year-old driver was stopped by police when they were caught travelling 196 km/h.

Police then caught another driver along the same stretch of highway on Monday, this time it was an 85-year-old who was travelling at 152 km/h.

RCMP officials said both drivers were ticketed and had their vehicles impounded for seven days.

“The Kimberley RCMP reminds drivers to slow down and that enforcement will continue in the areas that high risk driving is reported,” said Detachment Commander Sgt. Steve Woodcox.
