Cranbrook to begin 2023 paving work

Cranbrook’s 2023 paving program is set to begin next week, with three major projects planned around the community.

City officials said equipment should start arriving at several locations over the next few days in preparation.

The projects set to go ahead this summer include:

  • 1st Street South between 12th Avenue South & 14th Avenue South.
  • 2nd Street South between 14th Avenue South & Victoria Avenue.
  • 16th Avenue South from 2nd Street South to 3rd Street South.

Work will start on Tuesday as BA Blacktop begins asphalt milling on both 1st Street South and 2nd Street South.

This will have traffic down to a single lane along those routes.

Elsewhere, city staff said asphalt and sidewalk removal will also go ahead on Tuesday along 16th Avenue South.

This work will require the road to be closed, and drivers are asked watch for signage and detour around the site.

“Paving projects are scheduled to be complete by the end of August. Every effort will be made to reopen these roads to regular traffic as soon as possible,” said city officials. “We appreciate the patience and understanding of nearby residents and local drivers while this work is completed.”
