Police in the Elk Valley are looking for a green quad taken from the Flathead FSR.
Police said the owner of the ATV was driving along the forest service road near Elko, but it kept overheating on Sunday.
He took the key with him and went to a nearby creek at around 2 p.m.
When he went back to the quad at 8 p.m. it was gone.
The ATV is a 2014 Kawasaki Brute 750 with an Alberta registration plate.
There are no suspects and all keys are accounted for.
