Construction to start on Fernie’s new playground

Fernie’s Annex Neighbourhood will be home to a new playground in the near future.

City of Fernie officials said construction is set to begin next week, ahead of a mid-July opening.

The finished nature-based playground will include accessible play opportunities and an outdoor amphitheatre.

“Construction will start Monday, June 5. Fencing will be installed and the work may require intermittent closures of portions of the nearby trail. Please follow any posted signage,” said city staff.

Money for the $248,000 project comes from the Resort Municipality Initiative and private donations.
