New Wildfire Ignites Southeast of Cranbrook

The BC Wildfire Service is currently fighting a 10-hectare wildfire southeast of Cranbrook near Tepee Creek.

Labelled the West Plumbob fire, the BC Wildfire Service says the blaze is about 15 kilometres east of Moyie and 30 kilometres southeast of Cranbrook.

Airtankers and helicopters have both been assigned to the fire along with B-C Wildfire Service personnel.

“The fire is suspected to be lightning-caused,” said the BC Wildfire Service. “Smoke may be visible from Moyie, Cranbrook, Hwy 3 & 95 and surrounding communities.”

Despite the prominence of the fire, the BC Wildfire Service says no communities or structures are threatened at this time.
