Silver lining: $1,000 donation gives mammography campaign a boost

Silver Path Financial Solutions has donated $1,000 toward a campaign to bring a new mammography system to East Kootenay Regional Hospital.

The East Kootenay Foundation for Health plans to raise $1 million through its upcoming Starlite Campaign to purchase the new equipment.

The foundation said the system will provide advanced 3D imaging to improve visualization of breast tissue and help with breast cancer detection, particularly for patients with dense breast tissue.

Silver Path Financial said the technology could make a difference for patients and families across the region.

“Through the work we do with our clients, we know the toll a critical illness can take on someone’s life, their future and their family, and we’ve seen the difference earlier detection, the right technology and quality care close to home can make. As a team made up largely of women with deep roots in the East Kootenays, this campaign feels especially close to our hearts, and we’re proud to support EKFH in bringing this important technology to our community.”

The fundraising campaign is scheduled to formally launch at the Starlite Ball on Nov. 7.

EKFH executive director Brenna Hong said the foundation hopes to raise the money as quickly as possible.

“We are thrilled to announce that our 2026 Starlite Campaign will focus on bringing a state-of-the-art mammography system to East Kootenay Regional Hospital! We know the entire East Kootenay will rally behind this important campaign, just as our communities have done time and time again. Our goal is to raise the funds as quickly as possible so we can help bring this much-needed technology to our hospital and ensure patients have access to the best possible care, right here at home. A huge thank you to Silver Path Financial Solutions for being an early supporter of this important campaign!”

Silver Path Financial Solutions serves individuals, families and business owners in communities across the East Kootenay.
