This year’s Trio on the Mountain raised about $20,000 in support of a hospice home being built in the East Kootenay.
Brenna Hong, executive director of the East Kootenay Foundation for Health, said the June 26 event at Kimberley Alpine Resort was a fundraiser for the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society.
“The Trio on the Mountain event was a fundraiser for the building of a new hospice home, so all the funds will go towards the building of the hospice home. It took place on the Kimberly ski hill, and we had four local artists sing,” said Hong.
“Together, we raised $20,000 for the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society’s future Hospice Home. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to making this much-needed facility a reality. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for being part of this journey and for making such a meaningful difference in the lives of others,” said Hong.
Trio on the Mountain featured performances by local artists Heather Gemmell, Lennan Delaney, Oliver McQuaid and Jack Spring.
“We took the chair lift up, had a barbeque and got to hear some great entertainment, ” said Hong.
Hong said a highlight of the event was the amazing turnout, with more than 350 people attending.
“I think the first highlight was it sold out within 10 days, we had over 350 tickets sold. We hold a lot of events all over East Kootenay and I’ve never seen anything sellout that quickly. It was amazing.” said Hong
Hong said one of the event’s main goals was to raise awareness of the East Kootenay Foundation for Health and the hospice home project.
“I think the best part about the Trio on the Mountain was the awareness that it created. With 350 people there and a lot of people didn’t know much about the East Kootenay Foundation for Health or the new hospice home that the Cranbrook Kimberley Hospice Society is building. So we were able to engage the audience and just share with them how important this project really is. So that was the main goal to get awareness out and we definitely did accomplish that.” said Hong.
Hong thanked attendees, volunteers, sponsors and musicians, calling the event one of the foundation’s best.
“I’d like to thank the amazing team of volunteers that made it happen. Thank you for your time, energy, and smiling faces. Events like this simply would not be possible without your unwavering support and willingness to give back.” said Hong. “Also again to our sponsor, Kootenay Savings Credit Union and RCR, they made the event fabulous as well. The artists that sang at the event were amazing and then of course, all of the people that purchased tickets and attended. It was just overall one of the best events we’ve ever had.”
Hong also thanked Jim Webster and Brian Copping for helping organize the event.
“A very special thank you goes to Jim Webster and Brian Copping whose vision, passion, and countless hours of dedication brought this wonderful event to life. We are so grateful for your leadership and commitment.” said Hong.
Hong said the hospice home will provide end-of-life care closer to home for East Kootenay residents.
“I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our incredible community for coming together to support such an important cause. Your generosity, kindness, and enthusiasm made this evening truly special. To our talented artists, generous sponsors, and everyone who attended, thank you for believing in the vision of a future Hospice Home for our community. Your support is helping create a place where individuals and families will receive compassionate care and comfort when they need it most.” said Hong.
Donations to the hospice home project are still being accepted through the East Kootenay Foundation for Health. Hong said more project updates are expected later this year.
