An Evacuation Alert for 65 properties in the St. Mary Lake area has been lifted.
An alert remains in place for one property west of St. Mary Lake at 4404 St. Mary Lake Road.
“With the continued work of the crews, the BC Wildfire Service feels it is safe to lift the Alert for these 65 properties,” said Regional Emergency Operations Centre Information Officer Loree Duczek.
“We are grateful to all the women and men on the front lines and behind the scenes who have been working to protect the residents and their properties.”
The Tower Creek fire is now listed at 1,188 hectares in size.
The BC Wildfire Service has combined the Tower Creek and Tower Creek 2 fires into one blaze.
Although the properties are no longer on alert, Duczek said it’s important for residents to be aware of the fire risk.
“This continues to be an active wildfire and conditions
remain extremely dry. We all need to continue to stay prepared and aware as we still have a lot of summer left,” she said.
Up to date information on our local fires can be found on the BC Wildfire Service Map.
